good call kev
Well said mate – its refreshing to be able to drop the rivalry for a sec, as you say some things are much more important. As a Villa fan its nice to see people from other clubs dropping notes of goodwill for Gerard, here’s hoping he makes a full recovery soon.
From all the Villa fans at The Villa Blog and Aston Villa Life, thank you for your good wishes for our manager.
I suppose it takes something like this for the vile and the noses to be cordial with one another. Anyway, the sentiments are appreciated.
I’d like to endorse the comments left so far, there are more important things in life than football and the rivalry it generates and health is definitely one of them.
Best wishes for a speedy recovery.
Well said Kev. As we’ve seen North of the border, team rivalry can go too far. Wishing superiority on the pitch should be as far as it goes. Get well soon, Gerard.
I don’t know why you have to say anything about Gerard Houllier to be honest. He’s the manager of our scumbag rivals. Why the hell should we care about him?! Talk about being soft!
Well Russ Punslo, I’m not bothered if you think I’m soft. You are the first person who thinks otherwise to my decision to post this.
Oh and by the way, I’d have taken your comment more seriously and have more respect for you if you had put your real email address when you posted though.
I’ve just got back from a game of golf today and have only just caught up on the news about Gerard Houllier. I am so sorry to hear that he’s been taken ill and wish him the best for a speedy recovery. Apparently he doesn’t require surgery which is a relief. As for you Russ Punslo, what a disgusting sentiment to express about another human being; scumbag does not begin to describe you. I love the banter of football but it doesn’t stretch to wishing ill on my fellow man.
What for not caring about Gerard Houllier I’m a scumbag am I Bazza get a grip! I know if the boot was on the other foot you would not hear the same sentiment coming from them and I just don’t feel the need to comment in a respectful or disrespectful way on Mr. Houllier.
Don’t try and justify yourself Russ; you’re in the wrong plain and simple. Yes there would be a small minority who would act badly from the other side and I would condemn them just the same as I condemn you. A wrong is still a wrong from whomever it comes. Gerard Houllier is a man doing a job and decency and humanity demand our sympathy when a health issue beyond his control befalls him. If you don’t feel that you need to comment in a respectful or disrespectful way about Mr Houllier well don’t comment at all and do us all a favour.
Well said Bazz, on the button mate.
What comment am I trying to justify?! I asked Kevin why he felt the need to comment on the situation do you think the man himself is going to read this?! I’m sorry Kevin but with this post all you’re trying to do is score brownie points and personally I feel that’s wrong.
I am a Villa fan and i would like to thank those who have posted their best wishes to Gerard Houlier in respect of his illness, and should the boot be on the other foot, then yes i and i am sure many other Villa fans would be sending their best wishes.
You are our bitter rivals in football, but this is not just football, it’s about a human being, and responding in a human way.
You think I’m trying to score points? Fair enough you’re entitled to your opinion – however there are many people who read this site who have met me. I’ll let them comment on whether I am trying to score points or if this is something I would do because of who I am.
Kev
Thanks Tony.
Foolier. Who ever recruited Foolier as manager for Ston Villa must have been on drugs.
I mean Aston Villa. I also want to say I think its sad you are taking so many steps backwards after MON left.
I’ve met Kev and know he’d have posted this out of concern for a fellow human being, nothing to do with “scoring points”. I have only met him (I think) three times, but am proud to call him a friend. Russ, your post smacks of anti-Villa sentiment, which is a lot worse an excuse for expressing a lack of empathy for an ill individual than ANY reason for expressing sympathy. Stick to criticising Villa’s football by all means, but – as has been said previously – if you have nothing constructive to say, say nothing. Particularly if it’s about someone who is still at this time residing in a Birmingham hospital. Presumably being looked after by Birmingham City and Aston Villa fans alike. I for one couldn’t care less if I found out Houllier didn’t read this specific blog, the point, surely is solidarity at a time of ill health where – as has been proven by responses on this blog – fans from both sides can acknowledge that a) life is more important and b) fans from each side of our fine city can wish each other well…
Keep Right On, Gerard, whether you read this or not 🙂
Well I would also like to add my best wishes for a full and speedy recovery to Gerard Houllier. Whilst as seen by some of the comments on this article some people take a bit of local rivalry way too seriously and far too far this is not about football but about another human being who is ill in hospital and that is far more important than any game.
