Liam Ridgewell is a major doubt with a torn thigh muscle and Traore, Parnaby, Phillips, Agustien and McFadden are also definitely out.
On the plus side Garry O’Connor has returned to the squad and Lee Bowyer and Sebastian Larsson are available after suspension. Ulises de la Cruz could make his debut.
Bristol City have no new injuries or suspensions and could include old Blues favourites Stern John and Dele Adebola.
Blues won 2-1 back in September with one of our better performances of the season. An early own goal and one from Cameron Jerome made for what should have been a comfortable win but Blues being Blues took their foot off the gas and a 79th minute goal by Lee Trundle made for a tense finish.
Bristol City are in a good vein of form especially away from home where they have won four and drawn one of their last six. They can jump to fourth with a win tonight.
Blues on the other hand have only two victories from there last six at home. A win tonight is required to return to second place.
After last night’s results this is now a must win for Blues. In fact all our home games will be from now on. Recent performances have shown some improvement but our inability to put the ball in the net is a major worry. The question is can the players rise to the occasion or will they wilt under the pressure. I for one am not confident ahead of this one, the front pairing of Costly and Bent does not say goals to me. I expect Bowyer and Larsson to return probably at the expense of Fahey and Bouazza.
My prediction 1-1 or possibly a scrappy 1-0 with a goal by Bowyer.
