I guess that most Blues fans thought the same on Saturday, “here we go again!” After our possession, the opposition go and nick a goal. QPR were taking their turn to make us look bad this game. I gather we’d played pretty well again, but poor defending cost us a goal – and to be honest, it looked like ANOTHER 3 points dropped at home.
Now I should say, this isn’t a match report – I didn’t see the game. I did see the goals, as I was following the game on SSN. Kammy* was the reporter, and he didn’t use the word “unbelievable” when QPR scored, because it wasn’t. Let’s be truthful, it’s been happening all season. So I bet you thought, that’s it – another defeat? I know I did. Surely not today, the anniversary of our success against all the odds? Well it looked like it.
For what seems like forever now, there has been criticism of the manager of his tactics, substitutions and his bizarre post match summaries. Well something odd happened on Saturday. His tactics seemed to work, beside the QPR goal, we appeared to be the better side. (According to SSN). Also his substitutions changed the game. He bought on Roberts and Halilovic just after the hour. It appeared the right time, and although Roberts appeared to be more defensive, inspired choices.
Roberts provided the cross for Pederson to equalise. (His first goal for ages) and then Halilovic scored a very good winner. I have been critical of Karanka, and I think fairly so – however I am also willing to give credit where it’s deserved, and it is here.
Do I think he is now the right guy? No, I still think that his reign is tarnished beyond repair. However if he has turned the corner, I am willing to thank him and celebrate it. Let it not be forgotten, that was only the first time we have scored a 2nd goal at home since October last year. You have to go back to June for the previous time (3-3 against Hull). So there is a LONG way to go yet.
However, that was a valuable 3 points. We are now 5 points clear of the relegation places. Yes teams below do have games in hand – but both Rotherham and Sheffield Wednesday look like they are struggling. Wednesday of course threw away a 2-0 lead to lose away at Luton.
So possible shoots of recovery, may be anyway! Seems fitting that should happen with a 2-1 win over a London club, and a winner in the last few minutes – on the day it was ten years after our Carling Cup win. Unfortunately ten years ago, relegation followed that famous win, So let’s hope the comparison stops with the win!
As good as that victory was, the proof of the pudding will be if we can get a decent result on Tuesday.

Come on,i think the letter/poster from the fans woke the players up, AK having learnt of the poster even said he had told Peders he was world class months ago,ha ha.
I will not celebrate the worst manager we have ever had,he did what he always does puts subs on in the second half,what happened happened,don,t think it was AK,s tactical brain!.

We all know only too well not to get carried away by one decent result. Yes it is a relief not to have yet another joyless Saturday night- heaven knows we have had more than our fair share. What is important however is the bigger picture and what is likely to happen to our Club long term. Green shoots are fine so long as we have a solid platform to build upon, and as yet we simply don’t know. Most football clubs connect with encouragement and hope in the attempt to lure extra ticket sales and more importantly future season ticket sales. We at Blues appear not to see this. Opinions are great and analysts will try to fathom out all kinds of reasoning with end result being fairly tepid with us getting no clearer picture as to what the future will bring. Other reporting sites try and bloggers likewise with well respected individuals going the extra mile to bring some sort of understanding to the supporters. Until we get a proper figurehead at BCFC without the ‘near lunacy’ of recent times-we will forever be treading a quagmire in B9. However, on the current topic of our QPR win and possible green shoots emerging-then let’s hope so. Also let us not lose track of other more important issues and wish Steve Cotterill well as he battles pneumonia in hospital following his Coronavirus illness.
