We will be keeping tabs on the Ladies side, with the odd article here and there. Heather Cowan has sent this brief update. As I say, hoping to get some more going forward.
BCLFC go into the second part of the new FA Women’s Super League (WSL) season sitting top of the table and unbeaten. A wonderful start to this brand new elite women’s football league for the Blues who have been quietly preparing for their remaining games in July and August this summer.
The squad is littered with youth and senior international players with many local to the Birmingham area. A strong and tight knit team they have impressed opposition and spectators alike with their style of football and work rate on the pitch.
First up for the Blues are Doncaster Rovers Belles LFC. Playing at home (Stratford Town FC) on Saturday 23rd July (3pm kick off), with the pitch in fine condition and the players raring to go, the club are hoping for a big crowd to welcome the girls back into action.
The club has also been closely following the progress of the England team in the women’s world cup this summer, with 3 BCLFC players in the squad out in Germany (Karen Carney, Laura Bassett, Dunia Susi). Everyone was disappointed to see the team knocked out on penalties at the quarter final stage.
Tickets for the game can be purchased from the St Andrews box office (0844 557 1875) or on the gate at the DCS Stadium, Stratford Town FC, Knights Lane, Tiddington, Stratford upon Avon, CV37 7BZ. Adults £6 Concessions £3. For more info, check the web site out.
