What a result! I thought Zigic had a poor game but he’ll have his place in Blues history now.
We should have been 2-0 up before they equalised so I thought we were unlucky in the first half. In the second half it was mostly Villa and we gave the ball away far too much. The winning goal when it game was against the run of play and a bit lucky but who cares. We had the better chances and deserved our victory.

Shame the idiots had to shame us at the end.
Now for the semi-finals. Lets hope we can avoid Arsenal. The draw’s being made now it’s West Ham. I’ll take that.

I thought that for all their possession, they only really created one chance in the 2nd. I agree about Ziggy. I screamed at the TV “GET HIM OFF McLEISH!” 36 seconds later he’d scored. I therefore claim credit for our winner.
We as Birmingham supporters need to make a decision about centre forwards. Do we want ones that score goals or ones that work hard, because I do not beleive good, goalscoring centre forwards work hard and although Zigic is not the best footballer if he scores some more Goals even if they don’t go where he means them to go, I will stick with him and we all know it takes 12 months for some players to settle into the premier league. His touch generally hasn’t been good and he can’t jump but on the odd occasion he does have a vision and makes a great pass. Lets give the big Serb some time, he has sort of earned it (a winning goal against Vile in the Cup). Lets build up his confidence and get him scoring goals like he does for Serbia.
We’re the smallest club in the midlands by far. We need to accept that this is a shock, and we’re getting relegated.

We’ve all talked about the Zigic scenario enough , he has to go and go NOW ! I laughed along with everyone else at a freezing St Andrews on Wednesday, when the well meaning ‘ wombling ‘ lump watched his third rate attempt somehow deflect and balloon over Friedal in to the welcoming Tilton net , but come on , a fitting end to an embarassing performance !
When the forgotten Derbyshire made his entrance , we were up to 11 men for the first time all night . That’s not necessarily a compliment to Derbyshire , but an indication that ANY substitute in Ziggy’s case is going to bring more to the game.
If McLeish insists on carrying on with this kamikazee inclusion he may well pay more than the £6 million + £50 K per week cost that’s already been blown .
I’m going to start counting the counter attacks ( from the opposition ) that are a direct result of the Serb’s inability to do ANYTHING with the ball !
