I don’t often feel like writing about controversial incidents very often, but I’m annoyed about this.
I have been talking to people I know who live in the Portsmouth area and there hasn’t been much rain this week down there. NO other game anywhere near them was called off. Also I understand that the pitch was covered! The only way the pitch could have got as bad as it did, is with excess water – well if it hasn’t rained that much, where did that water come from? I think I would be taking a look at the club’s water meter!
Why would they try and get the game called off? Well they have a load of players away or out, they were due to have to endure a supporter demonstration, had gone through 120 minutes of a tough match in mid-week and due to play a team in form.
Sorry Portsmouth I think this very suspicious. I really hope that the Premier League investigate the situation.
We have seen that there is plenty of things going at the club that aren’t shall we say on the level, hence all the investigations that are going on. So it isn’t that unreasonable to suspect that something suspect has happened here!
I have to agree Kev, also add to the mix the transfer embargo had not been lifted or amended which would allow them for example to keep playing the likes of O’hara or add new loanees for the game
The pitch was covered as shown in the news when they had people clearing the snow.
if this is true then portsmouth deserve to be reported to the fa if it was the other way riund we would of been hammered by the men in suits in their ivory tower
also of coarse they are waiting till their african players are back !!

I was down ther on work suff this week and they did have loads of snow.
Why would they wait for their african players to come back?Their best 11 have got them to the lofty heights of bottom.The ref called it off,not the club.
the games at the local grounds 2 mile from the ground at southsea common were playable this afternoon and teams were playing.
the low pressure moved up from the south and west ,exeter played./plymouth played bournmouth played 1 hr away.
supporters of portsmouth said it was because of a protest march organised by portsmouth fans. in the portsmouth paper forum.
you would think that arsenal man u chelsea man c were coming ,but no it was birmingham city.
Wo wants to play us nobody.

As I said, I have spoken to people who live in your area, (assuming you follow Portsmouth), and they think the same. So it’s not just Birmingham fans who think the same. Take a look at some of the Portsmouth forums.
Have a look at other articles, this type of post is a rare occurrence, but one I felt was necessary to suggest.
Anyway, I’m happy for you to disagree, but I’d appreciate it if you could be more civil.

I have to say that I don’t agree. They clearly had a lot of snow and they did their best to clear it but are we really saying that they then deliberately watered parts of the pitch!
We are a better passing team and better overall and a dodgy pitch is a great leveller so would help them more than us.
Let’s see how quickly it’s replayed and whether it’s before they get their african tournemrnt players back – that should be the test as I see no reason why it shouldn’t be re-scheduled within a week or two.

Nick is right, poor old pompey fans have been working like trojans to clear the snow and get the game on, they are a great bunch of fans and they deserve better.
The snow from Reading southwards has been horrendous until Saturday when it absolutely threw it down with rain.
It is too easy to have a go at rival clubs when they are going through bad times.
Perhaps we should reflect on our own history and be grateful that we at last have undersoil heating.
