Norwich have confirmed CH as their new manager.
I am disappointed he had decided to go, but not surprised. It must be difficult to try and plan to build and strengthen a squad with the uncertainty around Carson Yeung and having the embargo because of the lack of accounts. The problem is, we can’t really do anything about it. I’m assuming that Norwich approached the club officially and of course the club could have said no, but if CH wanted to go – why stop him. I think the club have done the right thing here tbh. Anyway let’s look at Hughton.
He came to the club for his interview last summer with a dossier on each of the players and stormed it. This preparation became a hallmark of him tenure. He approached games with a plan, OK it didn’t always work, but at least he had a plan. With him in charge, we played some of the best football we’ve seen for ages, scored plenty of goals, had a run in Europe and nearly went up. Considering we lost virtually all of the previous season’s players, he did a fantastic job with the new squad.
Usually when a manager leaves, stick is thrown at them, (often for good reasons), however I wish Chris well. He has been a gent at the Blues and never moaned about either on or off the field events – even though sometimes that may have cost us. So thank you for the memories Chris.
Now it’s time to move on, the king is dead – long live the king, (whoever it might be!)
Gutted about CH he did a great job under difficult circumstances, I will have fond memories of his tenure. Who can blame him??.
Onto the next manager has to be “Lee Clark” for me..good young manager, who played some decent attacking stuff at Huddersfield. Not sure if anyone will really be attracted to our job with all the troubles we have at the mo. Who wants a job where you arms are strapped behind your back?.
Utterly fed up.
Will still renew my season ticket and cheer on the boys, but this feels like a significant moment. With transfer embargo, no money and now no manager i genuinely fear what next season will hold. I know the likes of curbishley and mccarthy will soon be touted, but who with an ounce of credibility would take on the job at the current time. I’m sure tomorrow will be a brighter day, but today is dark and despondent.
i think all true bluenoses will wish him well. but where do we go from here??? the board agreed to let him go because they can rake in another 1 or 2 million from compensation dependant on if all the other backroom staff go. but who would want that job to replace him knowing no players can come in. i’m also sure Redmond, Butland, Mutch, Davis, Burke and Foster will be gone within the next 6 weeks. the prospect of cashing in to the tune of another 20 million + is too great for the crooks currently running the club. that money will come in and disappear long before the true picture of the finances are released. a manager coming in now may not even have a team to manage by the start of the season. unless they can demonstrate they have the finances, they may not even be allowed to kick off the new season.
Isn’t Alex MCleish available ?
KRO, All the best chris, even now i doubt that any Blue nose will have a bad word to say about him. he will always have a special place in all our hearts. he deserves to have a futre sewn up, good luck to the man, Norwich have a gem in their grasp. so i say to you all, heres to Chris Hughton. KRO.
accounts for bcfc (though not for bihl) have been filed at uk comapnies house and will be open to public scrutiny next week
why release this news on the day they let the manager go?
have they fallen out with Chris Hughton?
how about a poll for next manager, rumours of zola and ince make me cringe don’t want either of these failures.
o’driscoll sacked too early at donny for me is a good shout as he plays passing football and is used to dealing on a small budget.
lee clark is another one but his football style isn’t as exciting.
nick barmby did a good job at hull again on a limited budget and is no yes man and spoke out when he felt he needed to.
Paul Ince????…..jesus, I have nowt against the chap but if he’s made manager we may aswell prepare for League One straight away.
Granted Chris hughton has done a fantastic job for Birmingham, but that’s be realistic he hasn’t finished what he started and his done the same as mr mcgleish and all the rest of the squad done, left for so called better options………so they say!!!! Mcgleish – job centre, Rodger Johnson – welcome back to the championship, Scott dann – welcome back to the championship, ferguson & Philips – eating rock in the championship.
I think he could of stayed for another season minimum taking into consideration we gave him an opportunity and the flexability to build his mangement team. his got the respect of the team, youth players, the board and the fans at birmingham city it’s shame it’s come to an end
. it’s a pity there is no loyalty in football because he could of been a hero in football never mind just at st Andrews!!
I wish Christ hughton all the best and look forward to all the speculation of whom our new manager will be. KRO
Yeah a poll will be posted tomorrow Chris.
Kev
Come wind rain sleet or snow
Hughton has gone but I’ll still go
Its in my blood and I dont care
If the blues are playing, I’ll be there !
So will I Steve, so will I. 😀

Thats the 3rd manager this ownership has driven away, when will they realise what they are doing to this club. I think we all knew the investment would never come, but what happened to all the shirt sales, media and TV rights revenue, the Chinese internationals to boost the squad, the exchanges etc etc. We are in this mess because the FA did their usual shoddy job in checking everything was above board and stable with these owners, and were very slow to step in but they were very quick in slapping on restrictions. I suppose the likes of Davies, Burke, Redmond, Butland, Fahey will all slowly find their way to Norwich with a few more of the backroom staff and the likes of Foster and Zigic will be quickly moved on because we need the money. I can see the out of contract players fading away because no one has time to re-negotiate with them. I am glad we did not win promotion, CH may have stayed if we had, but all the financial benefits would have disappeared through the back door to pay off debts in the far east. We have been through some dark times over the past fews years but it has never felt this dark before.
CH was the light at the end of the tunnel, I wish him all the best, he deserves to be at Norwich.
I think I would like to see Bruce come back, I think he is the closest there is to another CH, he did OK in his first spell, he always gave me the impression he was a Bluenose, I think he was settled here, circumstances drove him away, I know it got a bit nasty near the end, but he seemed pretty genuine when he was here. He is free as well.
I just get this horrible feeling, there is more to come, this is just the tip of the ice-berg, there are more revelations, problems and upsets lurking in the background.
Need some really good news to knock this gloom out of me.
Blues fans are hardly helping the situation out are you, St Andrews is always half empty and your fans would rather dress up like they’re on that film “Green Street” then buy a Blues top. No wonder noone wants to invest in your club when the fans dont spend any money.
Nick Barmby = less than one goal a game.
Blame everbody and anybody the fact is hes gone. Undoubtedy Hughton did a fantastic job but i do think he bailed out too early and for what-Norwich who have had one good season in the Prem. At least he leaves a half decent team with lots of potential. I do think for all the good he done he did have his weaknesses such as being unable to change things round when Blackpool totally outplayed us in the 1st leg and we only played for the last half hour in the second one. So maybe the new manager who ever he is just might be able to provide that extra bit of quality to get us over the line. Perhaps Holloway if hed come or even super Kev Phillips as player/managercoach. KRO SOTV.
