Today HRH Prince Philip passed away.
He was a husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. His D of E award has helped 1000’s of young people’s lives, he was a distinguished naval officer and a commando.
He served his monarch for over 70 years, always prepared to walk a few steps behind her and deferring to her.
I met him at a Royal Garden Party, although didn’t talk with him directly. He spoke to the group I was with generally and he was interested and funny.
I am genuinely sad today, and I can’t imagine what Her Majesty the Queen must be feeling.

My dad met Prince Philip when he came to open an arts centre that Dad volunteered at. When being introduced he stopped to tell dad that one of the slabs he had layed was cracked.

I’m sorry to be a dissenting voice and my apologies if I have got this wrong.
But when Frank Worthington died and he actually played for our club he wasn’t mentioned on the official website that I could see.
Yet we pay tribute to a 99 year old who is nothing to do with the club whatsoever.
Doesn’t make sense.
