I will pay more detail to this season after the play-offs, but the following article was mentioned on the forum. In it the Daily Mail expertly predicted that Chris Hughton would be a flop and the Blues would be battling for relegation. (Perhaps they were mixing the two clubs of the city up!)
So what HAS happened? Well first the negatives.
We got knocked out of the League Cup early.
Right now that’s done – let’s look at the positives.
Finished 4th in a notoriously difficult league with a virtually new side.
We’ve scored just short of 100 goals, with at least two more games to go.
We’ve only been beaten once at home in the league.
We have scored 3 or more in 12 games in all competitions.
Highest away scorers in the league.
One of the best, (if not the best), defensive records at home.
We had two fantastic away victories in Europe and only just failed to qualify.
We had a decent run in the FA cup.
We have played some terrific football at times, a far cry from last season despite the trophy win.
All in all a great season by all accounts, great shout Daily Mail good to see your experts are kind of experts!
All we need to do now is cap it off with a Wembley win in May!
Perhaps Mr. Domin could take up another career instead of pursuing one in journalism?
Street cleaning, perhaps? Burger flipping? What about shoe shining?
Whatever he decides, it’s quite clear he has very little worth as a sports journalist!

Perhaps another one of Ashley’s (Pardew’s?) press lackeys twisting the knife of opinionated ignorance – which never did anyone of substance any harm. As a lifelong supporter of NUFC until Hughton’s inequitable dismissal, I remember thinking at the time Domin’s laughable inversion of facts regarding the Toon’s Hoots-fuelled bounce back was almost a work of fictional art.
Bluenoses, I hope you don’t fall into the same Hamlynite mentality that befell my fellow Geordies. Chris, in my factual book, is the real deal & potentially every bit as good as Sir Bobby (who was also treated miserably by the ever over-estimated Toon).
(After all, he got ya the magical 76 points – as I predicted he would weeks ago…)
The season has certainly turned out much, much beter than i thought it would. Hopefully come the playoffs it will get better yet. Either way, Hughton deserves a lot of credit for it. My wish list for the next few weeks is –
1. Blues win the playoff final;
2. Villa goes down and McLeish is sacked;
3. Hughton resists West Brom’s approaches and stays with Blues.
