Congratulations to Chris Hughton for winning his second manager of the month award of the season, this time scooping January’s award after winning October’s. The celebration is a double this time though, as Curtis Davies has won player of the month too.
Blues have been on a terrific run, we are unbeaten since before Christmas. During January, the club scored a shed full of goals, including 4 at Leeds and 6 at Millwall. Along side that, we have only conceded 3. On the whole, the manner of play has been enjoyable too and although we’ve perhaps looked a little less balanced since Beausejour’s departure – the drive and desire to win hasn’t gone.

Blues have moved from mid table to just spitting distance behind the two automatic promotion places, and have looked very solid. The manager needs to take a huge amount of credit for where we are, he has built a hard working side who never give in, who can play football, and can score goals. A task that wasn’t made easy with the huge changeover of playing staff that has occurred at the club during and since the summer.
The bedrock of the success is the defence, and in the centre of that defence is one Curtis Davies who is the other winner today. Curtis has gone on from strength to strength after somewhat of a shaky start at the club. He now must be one of the first names on the list for games. There was some concern, and probably merited, when Roger and Scott left – but Curtis has grabbed the opportunity and cemented himself into the position.
So well done fellas, enjoy the recognition that you both richly deserve – but please, no Manager of the Month curse this time. Last time Chris won it, we had a bit of a wobble!

Curtis took a lot of stick at the start of the season . Time for some fans to eat humble pie and CH is now the new God at St Andrews . KRO SOTV
Well done Chris and Curtis. Shows what a great guy Chris must be to work for he just wants to divert the accolade to his team both on and off the field. Quite right also that Caldwell has made a massive contribution alongside Curtis. Hughton deserves everything heaped upon him after taking basically a bunch of misfits, has beens, or wanna be’s and turning them in to a force to be recokned with in the Championship. Burkey said it a few weeks ago there are no superstars or super egos in the dressing room and that has led to a very harmonious group of players all wanting to play for each other.
i can understand his stance on trying to keep the harmony within the squad but ultimately that won’t score us goals.
we desperately need at least a left winger and striker asap.
hope i’m wrong but we will slip up with rooney being the only fit striker
ideally we need two strikers.
