I have to say I thought we might be in for a tough game tonight, and my prediction was 2-2 – however it appears we were pretty much in control of the game. It is true that Boaz Myhill had to pull off two very good saves, and Leeds just shaded the on and off target stats, but they didn’t really offer as big a threat as I thought they might.
Just a single goal separated the two teams with Nikola Zigic scoring his 1st goal of the season from a Stephen Carr cross. Once again the defence played really well, and it is very encouraging that the wobbles that we had at the back earlier this season, seem to have disappeared. Caldwell, Carr, Davies and Myhill all particularly had great games, as did King at the other end.
I have said several times recently, that we are really beginning to look a team. There are no “Billy Big Boots” in there, they all fight for each other. The work ethic has improved, we look like scoring, but even more important – we are beginning to look less likely to concede too!
Over 20,000 there too which is great especially are in the middle of a busy run of matches.
Keep up the good work Chris Hughton, I am REALLY enjoying this season!
Surely he will be Manager of the month for October?
forget manager of the month if he keeps on like this i’m dumping the missus and proposing to him!!
Some people think manager of the month is a jinx, but looking at the winners this season
August/Gus Poyet/Brighton-they then lost form
Sept/Tony Mowbray/Middlesbro-they continued to do well……..
So lets hope Chris gets his 5th M.O.M award,he DESERVES IT!
Enjoying my football at Stans:) Its a joy to go and watch free flowing football. Chris Hughton take a bow:)
Great night and a great atmosphere. Most I’ve enjoyed a season since Barry Fry – I think there is a pressure in the Premiership that is getting more unhealthy for fans and clubs – unless the club is incredibly wealthy. Had a Leeds fan staying with us – he thought Leeds looked the livelier of the two teams and blues didn’t really put a series of moves together – but we both agreed that the sign of a good team is to win without playing that well. Defensively we continue to look well organised and strong. I was also at Bristol and thought the same – we attack and go forward a lot so other teams will have some chances – but Myhill seems to have found another gear. Glad Ziggy scored and it was the winner – hopefully he will start knocking in the sitters. KRO
Got to agree – loving this season. CH has put together a tight unit that fights for each other – just what we love at Blues. We’re not getting the credit we deserve but I am happy to keep going about our business quietly under the radar. CH deserves manager of the month but hope he doesn’t get it, we all know about that curse. Roll on Saturday then Bruges next week. Loving this season the fun is back!!!
