Alex McLeish was confirmed by the Villa today as their new manager, (despite the Blues saying he is still under contract and compensation is required).
For fans of both clubs, it has been a bit of a roller-coaster week. Neither sets would have expected anything like this 10 days ago. However he has moved, he is now the manager in B6, (the poor people!)
It’s time to now move on in my opinion. If we don’t get re-focused, we could miss the opportunity to get ready. I call on the board to move swiftly to get the new man in place, whoever you like, please don’t hang around. If any of the top three in our poll are chosen, I suspect that most fans would be happy.
So as Blues fans, time to look forward, getting a new manager in place, getting a squad in place willing to compete for the club, and commencing the fight for the immediate to return to the top flight.

Too much mouthing off by the club / Pannu about what they are going to do, how wrong it all is and how they aren’t going to sit back and take it, but so far that’s just what they have done.
No complaint to league, no injunction, so far just loads of talk and empty threats.
Have little faith in them running the club and i worry about who they will appoint and how much transfer power / money he will have.
Agree, it’s been a terrible week. I’ll miss Eck and I would like to know the real reason for his exit. The Chinese people have to show who they really are now and try to get someone new in quick. We need to get our troops together for the very tough task that lies in front of us. The Championship is no easy league to get promoted from. And at last I would like Pannu to keep his mouth shut, he sounds like a little schoolboy with all his complaints. I’m quite sure that Eck wouldn’t resigned if things were alright.
I’m very unsure about the regime. Let’s hope they do something good about the sad situation we are in now with players leaving and no manager…..
Peter Pannu is damned if he does,and damned if he doesn’t. Speak, and he’s accused of being a schoolboy, stay silent, and everyone says they’re sick of “Chinese cloak and dagger”. I feel the things he has said have been at the right time, and to the point. He’s vocalised a lot of my own anger! As for legal matters, i hardly think he’s talked of injunctions and compensation without doing anything. We’ve probably been advised Villa can hardly be done for tapping up, if they don’t employ the man, so we probably had to wait for them to do so. Complaint to the premier league would probably take time to prepare, as it would require evidence, and checking over by legal team, otherwise Villa’s legal team would focus on one loophole and we would get nothing. I echo Kev’s call for speedy replacement now. A decent manager, promised a decent, if not spectacular, transfer budget. With publication of fixtures, we know our opponents, but they haven’t got a clue who we’ll be. A new manager will need to accept one or two more departures, but will also need the power to demand the rest stay. I hope the Board don’t sack the backroom staff on his arrival too, they would be free to join Villa without compensation.
Right you clever article writers at Joys and sorrows here is a challenge for you, write an article with the sums to support stating if Eck was backed by both boards in his time with Blues. now in there of course there will need to be assumptions i.e wages for loans, payments for loans because club don’t just give you players for a season for nothing and the cost to actually buy players. Now the success of failure criteria I think would have to be measured against other premiership clubs of the same scale? Forget the figure stated by an over excited man who had just bought a football club.
A friend and I got this seasons spend to £27 mill it really shocked me. Compare this put us in the top 25% of the league but lets see what you come up with?
Oh sorry forgot to say Curbs for me I like hougton but to honest the squad he had at Newcastle I could have got up. Curbs for me is a balanced character with genuine experince and pedigree but ultimately I’m just happy to go and buy my season ticket knowing the pains has gone
Firstly, I would like to say I have never been a fan of big Eck, but would have given him freedom of the City after the Carling Cup win, but would have had to take it off him for getting us relegated. His football and Tictacs are awful and negative.
I think he should have resigned after the last game of the season and then none of us would have had any issues about asking for compensation. Just been glad he’d gone. The issue is if he was a player, he couldn’t have resigned because he didn’t like the manager. Either pay your contract up or find a club that wants to pay for your services. Simple.
As for a new manager Di Mateo or Hughton. Both have experience of winning promotion and playing nice football which would be a nice change from the last 5 years down at St Anadrews, its been rubbish football played in a negative fashion.
It is time to move on and I think both Rangers and Birmingham supporters will have a word of warning for the freaks at the four sheds….. Your Foootball will be Dull and Negative but at times effective. As for those refusing to renew your season tiickets at Vile Park, you don’t know how sensible that is, as football will no longer be exciting or entertaining and only bet on 1-0 or 0-0 or 0-1 or 1-1 as football becomes predictable.

Ive’ heard that McLeish is about to get £40M off Yankee boy to improve the plastic brummies. Figo – in the last 2 seasons at Blues he spent £33.35M on Johnson (5M), Dann (4M), Baz (1.2M), Michel (3M), Gardner (3M), Zigic (6M), Foster (6M), Beausajour (3.4M) and Davies (1.75M) – this £33.35M does not include the loan fees for Pleb, Bentley and Martins – so I bet the final figure will be around £37M to £40M and we finished 3rd from bottom! That negative idiot couldn’t even keep us at 4th from bottom – how can he have a reputation for being a good manager? I knew he was rubbish the day we lost to Fulham 2-0 at Craven Cottage in May 2008 – this guy hasn’t got a clue. I was willing to give him another chance due to the fabulous Carling Cup victory – but I tell you all – he is a crap manager in league football. The cockney media take the mickey out of us for being a “small” club – small clubs do not spend £40M – he should have at least been able to keep us at 4th from bottom with £40M and he couldn’t do it but now its’ every body else’s fault and not his – what an idiot.
