@bcfcdotcom confirmed on twitter today that Blues have completed the signing of Marlon King on a three-year deal.
I can’t help feel that this signing will split Blues fans more than any other signing in the thirty odd years I’ve supported the club. Regardless of his background, a 3 year deal seems odd for a 31 year old in my opinion.

But anyway, a three year contract for an average 31 year old is a crap football decision too.
I’ve mixed feelings knowing the baggage that comes with him, but I feel as long as the dressing room accept him, he is equiped to get some of the goals we will need to escape from this division.
As to the 3 year contract….have we not recently had success with a player who took some time out of his career and has given us 3 years sterling service
Three year contract would have been the deal-breaker. He had been offered four or five two year deals, and refused them. Coventry included. He “demanded” a three year from Coventry that wasn’t forthcoming quickly enough, so Birmingham offered him what he wanted.
I can’t be anything but very disappointed by this signing. As if the club’s reputation isn’t low enough already. Maybe Lee Hughes will be next…

What is done is done & though I would have liked King to have been contrite after his conviction, one has to remind oneself that he has served his sentence. I believe he will score goals; I now only hope that he isn’t a disruptive element in the dressing room.
Your last comment is a good one AR. I imagine that would have been addressed though. At least I hope so.
I would like to think that Big Eck takes into consideration a potential players’ antecedence as well as his footballing ability prior to signing him, after all, that is an essential element of management.
I don’t suppose for a minute that he will be considered for ‘personal appearances’ at schools or hospitals, for example. If King steps out of line, either on or off the pitch, the clubs’ disciplinary procedure will be used, and I’m sure that fact would have been put to him during contract negotiations. If he does become a disruptive element in the dressing room I think that the team captain, who as far as I’m aware harnesses the responsibility of being a go-between for the players and manager will take him to one side and have a quiet word. If he does what he’s paid for and gets us the goals to return us to where we belong, I will be satisfied.
Once a thug always a thug. It could have been your wife , girlfriend, daughter. . As a father of two girls a husband and a grandfather of a two beautiful little girls, I find it morally offensive that we should have signed that man. Having already purchased my 4 season tickets 3 of the users no longer want to come. As they have said tehy will always be loyal fans of the club, but do not want to be associated with a club the employs a woman abuser. Given that the dogs are out for all our star players times are going to be very harsh. We will be needing every Blue nose to come to the cause. Marlon King will not improve that situation at all, a more divisive signing it would be hard to find
