Another point in the right direction, and a 1-1 score that I would have took before the game. However it could have been very different.
After taking the lead with great work from Jerome and a Bowyer header – we looked totally in control, but an injury to Johnson took an age to deal with and after the re-start Ridgewell had a brainstorm and passed it directly to the Blackburn player who equalised in the 51st minute (in the first half!)
Seb had two free kicks that deserved goals one that hit the inside of the post and the 2nd which was well saved. Cruz also had decent chances, but the game was mainly a battle, and I mean battle – with plenty of players down injured and stoppages. This is the first time I’ve seen Blackburn, and although I have no problem with the physical game – some of their challenges today deserved cards that they didn’t get.
There were injuries to Johnson and Ferguson. Davies also took a knock after coming on. I do want to give a special mention to Davies, he came on for Johnson at half time and played really well.
Over all though – a draw was probably just about the right result. I think we now need 6 points with Sunderland, Wolves and Fulham all to come to St Andrews, you have to say we SHOULD do that.
we SHOULD do that, but my word these home games are going to have intense pressure on them, we really really need to see off Sunderland to alleviate the pressure at the first opportunity!
I can also see us getting all 3 points at Anfield
