Brief Post Match Thoughts Blues v Sheff Wed FA Cup 5th Round

Aylesbury Blue went today, but was unable to do a post match thoughts post so I have. I’m sure he will add his thoughts when he can log in.

I didn’t see the game, so the comments are as a result of listening to the radio and from a couple of people who did go.

Apparently Wednesday were poor and we could have been 4 or 5 up by half time. It appears Hleb was running the game, so lets hope the injury isn’t serious. (I’d appreciate anyone’s opinion of the tackle, according to the radio it was a bad one).

I gather the Wednesday fans were in good voice.

Great to see both Dave and Martins getting their first goals for the club, and Martins getting a 90 minutes in the bag.

I also gather Murphy had a good game.

So we are one game short of another Wembley appearance. I’ll be glued to the draw, we can’t get another home draw can we???

  1. The challenge on Hleb was a disgrace. Needless to say the gutless clowns on ITV refused to show it ( come back Colin Murray and the BCC, all is forgiven! ) Looking at the Wednesday fans comments the perpetrator O’Connor is poorly regarded by them anyway. Still with that doyen of total football Gary Megson now in charge I’m sure they can look forward to yet more talented players of a similar ilk!

  2. This was one of the most comfortable wins we have had for a long time. The game was over as a contest after twenty minutes although we could have gone on to get more in the first half if it wasn’t for the cynical taking out of Hleb. He was running the show until then.
The game petered out a bit in the second half as thoughts turned to next week.

Another good fun cup game. It’s just a shame that so few other people went to see it.

  3. Very comfortable win. If we had wanted we could have had a hatful of goals. IMO the tackle that did Hleb should have been a red card, totally cynical.
We finished the game with a back four comprising three fullbacks and a winger and Sheffield still didn’t look a threat, sums it up really.
