It’s expected that the team will be pretty much the same as the 2nd half of the 1st leg. Today Alex quite rightly asked the Blues fans not to boo Seb, which indicates that if not starting – he will play a part.
There has been a lot of talk around 442, 4411 and 451. For me it is simple, if we play Hleb his best position is “in the hole” which means the 4411. My preference is Jerome up front, however Zigic could do a job there.
The midfield virtually picks itself with Seb on the right, Gardner and Ferguson in the middle. The left side is the one question. I would put Dave there because he does have genuine pace, and have Fahey on the bench. (Not because I don’t rate Fahey – because I do – but because we need to be more attacking).
HOWEVER if Fahey does play, I thought he did well against West Ham in the 2nd half of the 1st leg so he CAN do the job and have Dave as an impact player.
For me the 1st 20 minutes is vital. We must NOT concede, and preferably score ourselves. However to win I believe we need to go two up. We do look vulnerable when we are only one up.
This is a very good opportunity for us to have a major Wembley final, something we’ve not seen since the 1950’s. (Actually I’ve not seen at all!)
So whatever the format and whoever plays – come on Blues, let’s have a decent victory!
Good luck BCFC in tonights game.I hope you beat the Hammers, cant stand the jellied eel scoffers.
