Wolves vs Blues – Brief post match thoughts

Another poor away day and another poor performance against a side at the bottom.  Wolves were by far the better team and we didn’t even start playing until the last ten minutes.  Even sending on Kevin Phillips didn’t help as he missed the best of the very few chances that we created.

If it wasn’t for Ben Foster who had a good game it could have been a lot worse as the rest of the team didn’t turn up.  Why was Gardner dropped?  At least McLeish made earlier than usual substitutions which did help.

I really don’t know why we can’t compete in these matches, we were excellent in the second half against Tottenham.  Wolves were down to bare bones and Berra had to play on despite being almost cut in half by the post.  Despite this we didn’t attack them and exploit their weaknesses until it was too late.

Very disappointing all round.  Three points dropped against one of our main relegation rivals.  I’m not looking forward to the smug look on the office Wolves fan’s face tomorrow.

  1. Don’t want to sound overly negative but Games such as CHelsea & Villa have papered over the cracks. To say we don’t play well against the lesser teams does not quite cover it truth is we can justify playing backs to the wall football against the so called better teams, having two forwards that are incapable of holding the ball up and a midfield that has absolutly no pace. What we have got is a superb backline (Murphy not included) a superb keeper and though the pace is not there Ferguson is a star in the Autumn of his career. Even with fact we were away the expectation was we should be capable to have ago but the reality again was just no class going forward, again the back four were asked to preform miracles and again they nearlly did. To sum up when we went one down I don’t think anyone could see where a goal would come from to get us back in it granted I knew the boys at the back would do their best to hold firm question is now to be a consistent side in that league we need to show more than backs against the wall defending Alex is three points off relegation and he needs to start earning his corn by doing something different. Final qestion, is beau brummie still the club mascot or is it Keith Fahey because I seem to see them both on the flank of the pitch not doing a lot lol

  2. ‘Figo ‘ I agree with every single solitary word of your comment. I won’t go on , as there’s nothing more that you can really add to it . ( Apart from bemoaning the now constant, laughable inclusion of that tall bloke who will get us RELEGATED unless McLeish just admits his costly clanger and puts ANYBODY else in instead ! )
