The Blues go back to winning ways with a good 2-0 victory over Blackpool.
A goal from Ridge and Zigic in each half gave us all 3 points. We started the game with two up front Zigic and O’Connor and Hleb just behind them. Virtually right from the start, we looked like we meant business. All through the half the crosses came in from both sides with both Ridgewell and Carr playing well on the flanks.
O’Connor worked hard all through the game, and gave the Blackpool defence a tough time. He should have put the Blues ahead when he was put through one on one, but I suspect the lack of match fitness meant he was tackled just as he was about to shoot. O’Connor did put the ball in the net half way through the half but was a foot or so off side.
Blues took the lead some 10 minutes before the break. From a corner the ball came across Zigic headed against the bar and it fell down where Ridge was stood right in front of a virtual empty goal, 1-0. We could have been 2-0 up at HT but Zigic was unable to put his chance in.
We started the second half a little slower and I was concerned that we were going to do what we have recently. Blackpool had a shout for a penalty for handball – but it wasn’t given. That made it 1-1 on “not givens” as we had one in the 1st half turned down. I needn’t have worried though – Hleb had a brilliant run but was unable to get his shot away. Just after that we went 2-0 up. The ball moved around and looked like going out, Ridge however put it back into the box and Blackpool were unable to clear leaving the ball for Zigic to stick into the net.
The remainder of the half was fairly uneventful besides a decent shot by DJ Campbell late on, but the game was won. Zigic was given MOM at the game, but Ridge was mine.
So a good performance, a clean sheet, never looked like conceding, and another goal for our new forward, it’s got to be good hasn’t it! The only negative was that Hleb looked like he got a pretty bad knock.
I’m looking forward to Baz’s View from the South!

A win by two clear goals as well. I didn’t think that was possible. The table looks a lot nicer today.
Best game ive seen us play in a long time. All round great team performance. Barry and Ridge were brilliant again
A convincing win at last, 2 up front made a huge difference. Bring ’em on next sunday!
