Craig Gardner will be unavailable for three games so the manager will have to do what he likes least….change the team.
Who should come in?
I reckon Beausejour should come in on the left, Bowyer return to the middle and Hleb play in the hole behind Jerome.
Wouldn’t be surprised if Fahey comes in on the left instead due to Beausejour’s lack of match fitness.
Of course he may also change the formation and bring in an extra striker like Zigic or Phillips.

i think foster in goal carr dann johnson and ridgwell in defence in midfield hleb ferguson jean beausejour and larsson and in attack have matt derbyshire and jerome
seriously, bowyer has lost it. has been awful since about january last year. anyone agree? we need another central midfielder for cover.
i would give redmond a go derbyshire upfront with jerome and go for it
Although i havent been impressed so far, i would play zigic up front with cam jerome, stick Beausejour on the left and have hleb and ferguson in the middle. And i agree with bob, bowyer looks slow and laboured we need to bring in a good midfielder for cover. I also think we should try and get Andy Johnson from fulham in january

I think it shoulld be 4-4-2 with Beausejour – Furguson – Hleb – Larson in Midfield as it is ballanced and up front Zigic and either Derbyshire or Jerome, as Zigic needs game time and 1 up front does not work for Blues. Jerome can’t score in the prem regularly enough and needs refocusing which might mean coming from the bench for a while but give players like him 20-30mins not 20 seconds. And you are, all right Fahey can’t start and probably should only come on if he is going to do something he seems lost at this level.
We have to go 442 or we sit too far back and let them at us + we don;t have the hold-up striker/finisher yet.I agree with Liam – Seb and beausejour knocking in the crosses to Ziggy and Cameron, Hleb attacking midfield just behind them and playing it into Ziggy’s feet. Ziggy doesn’t look too comfortable in the air and needs some service to his feet. Bowyer on for last 20 if Hleb’s tiring. Derbyshire on for Ziggy if he is tiring, Fahey on for Beau if he is tiring, Jiranek on for Carr if he is tiring.
Think Derbyshire should be given a start, think Fahey aint good enough for the prem but im confident it will be a better game than last week, it has to be or Everton will punish us.
I think this Beausejour looks like he can do a job , although I’ll reserve judgement on his ‘ repeatability’
Phillips is ALWAYS capable , but we’ve got to accept , he’s an impact player now ( FROM the bench ! ) Jerome ………..7 to 10 goals a season absolute max ! Derbyshire looks handy to me , and could score the type of ‘ bread and butter’ understated goals that really matter over the whole season. Larsson ( in Mc Fadden’s absence ) will just have to take the Scot’s mantle and provide the quality service that we desperately need to catch out Premiership defences ( he’s capable ! )
Bowyer’s had his best days with us ( already ) and significant as they were , he’s shot, and uninterested, relying on lazy contrived ‘iffy’ decisions from the ref to gain an advantage more and more every week. Fahey has a mental block , he’d rather lay a ball off if he can , very seldom choosing an offensive option , but , if he has to try something , and it comes off , he grows in stature and confidence before your eyes ! ‘Trouble is , he has to go through that barrier every game!
Zigic , …. let’s face it , not in a million years……………. ! and as for the rhetoric from Big Eck regarding this catastrophic purchase and his ‘ finding his feet ‘ etc , do me a favour , an unmitigated disastrous buy ! No other Premiership team would even have him on the bench ! on loan ! free of charge ! He might grab a couple of goals , purely because he’s there ! but Ridgy will score more .
So , getting back to the original point , it looks like we’re going to have to wait for the Villa reject ( who’s heart is definately in the right place ) and who can hit a decent shot , coming back and embarassing his ‘striker’ collegues with his trademark ‘ catch the goalie out ‘ speculative wallops.
I see troubled times ahead , shame, considering our first year back ended up so well.
