What we learnt from football this week

Kicking somebody in the back is a perfectly acceptable thing to do

Hey kids, if you need the ball back quickly and an opponent has taken it into the corner just karate kick them in the back.  You won’t get into any trouble for it.

Tackling someone to win the ball back however will get you sent off.

Man City’s dream team is not quite as expected

I’m not sure that during a meeting with Mark Hughes in August the new owners said “I have a dream for this club, that one day people from all over Manchester will be able to come to Eastlands and watch Craig Bellamy and Wayne Bridge.”

To be fair Bridge, De Jong and Given are good signings but if you tell people you are going out to buy a Ferrari and come back with a Ford Focus, expect funny looks.

ITV should never be allowed to show live football ever again

After years of sub-standard coverage and even worse co-commentators they hit a new low this week.  Yes even worse than the tactics truck.  Did anyone see the only goal in 120 minutes of football on Wednesday.  I didn’t I saw a Volkswagen commercial.  What next interrupting the second half for thirty minutes to show the news.

You can’t play football in London if it snows.

Every game due to be played in London on Tuesday was postponed due to the weather.  It was so bad that Andrey Arshavin took a whole day to travel from his hotel in North London to er..North London in order to complete his transfer.

That’s all for this week. Come back next week when I will be commentating on how after numerous withdrawals for “Injury”, Marlon Harewood started for England in Spain.

  1. Don’t forget that if you had paid £13.99 month to Setanta so you could watch the Tea leaf Derby not on ITV if you live in England you couldn’t. All that money for a blank screen!!
