Justice For the 21

I was involved in a podcast with The Project Facebook Group owner Steve Treanor, (podcast link below), and on that was also Peter Hannon who is involved in the Justice for 21 campaign. I wanted to give the opportunity to highlight the campaign. The night that the bombings happened in 1974, is etched on my memory. However how much more for those families who lost loved ones. Below the youtibe link for the podcast, is a post created by Steve Treanor. I hope you find it enlightening, but that you can support the cause.

It’s only a few days until the 49th year ticks by since the bombing of the Tavern in the Town and The Mulberry Bush on the 21st November 1974.

ITV Coverage

On this night we lost 21 of our Cities Sons and Daughters, Mother’s and Father’s, Friends and Neighbours. Killed in cold blood as they enjoyed a normal Thursday evening after a working day. Doing what hundreds of us did every Thursday evening of every week. Nothing unusual, not protesting anything, not attending any political meetings just having a drink “up town”.

49 years later and the perpetrators of this cowardly act have still not been brought to Justice. Consecutive Governments hiding behind lies and fabrication. Families and friends are reduced to almost begging for any sort of recognition to start to put things right.

The Victims

It’s now when we need support, not next year, not sometime in the distant future that never arrives. The can has been kicked down the road for long enough, our representatives have to step up. We all need to remember and we all have to realise that it’s never going to be too late. We will always support Justice for the 21 but we expect our Club to step up and represent us. They have said they want inclusion and involvement in our community, this is where we need you most.

Three of our top executives are Brummies, have you forgotten who you are? Have you forsaken your fellow Brummies? Tuesday 21st November please show us some Public support and remember with us. Saturday 25th November please show your respect by holding a minutes silence, allow our players to wear the black armband and show the names of the angels removed from us 49 years ago on the screens. We can and we will clap on 21 minutes, we need no help from you to do that.

Steve Treanor speaks to Julie Hambleton.

We expect this from the club that bears the Cities name. If you cannot do these simple things on these two days for us, your supporters in our hour of grief and remembrance, we will demand to know why not! This football club belongs to the supporters, we expect its custodians to treat its fans and their families with respect and not to barter with their grief and the loss of their loved ones in their time of pain and loss.

  1. When will people realise that Governments and politicians do not give two shits about the general population. All they are interesting in is lining their own pockets. This is all of them Tories, Labour etc. They are supposed to be civil servants but in reality are just self serving. Sorry for the rant. I hope someday we get peace for the Birmingham 21 but I doubt if the perpetrators of this heinous crime are ever brought to justice. My thoughts go out to all affected.
