A view from Forest

This week we’ve teamed up with Jim from www.trentendblog.com to share views on our respective clubs.  Here’s his take on the Forest season so far.

How has you season gone so far?
It’s been dissapointing. We signed little in the summer and it cost us during the first half of the season. Under Calderwood we played good football but results were hard to come by with our best strikers Garner and Earnshaw out injured. Billy Davies has managed to make us harder to beat and he got a good start with three straight wins. However, during those games key players got injured and we failed to sign anyone in January and I think it will cost us. Against Derby in the cup we had 7 subs, the oldest sub was 20, that says it all.

Happy with the manager?
Calderwood looked out of his depth in this division but he leaves with respect from Forest fans after getting us promoted out of League One. Not many of our fans wanted Billy Davies because he prior to joining us, he had our most hated rivals Derby promoted to The Premiership. He has made a good start and he says the right things. I think he is the right man for the job but some are unsure.

Who has been your best player so far this season?
This is a difficult question because we have seen some great performances and some dire ones. Our most talented player is Earnshaw, his finishing is superb and he has a football brain on him but he has spent half of the season injured and wont feature against Birmingham. Chris Cohen plays in centre midfield and has been a very consistent performer since he joined us from Yeovil two seasons ago. A lower league Steven Gerrard. Lewis McGugan is our most talented player but tends not to bother sometimes, very talented but very lazy.

Who has been your worst player this season?

Joel Lynch has been really poor. We signed him from Brighton earlier in the season because we needed a bit of depth in defence. Around Christmas time he put in some poor performances but against Doncaster on Boxing Day he was a disgrace, stuggled to run or pass the ball. He hasn’t played since.

Views on Birmingham
I was acutally born in Quinton, Birmingham. However I left there when I was four and moved to Nottingham so I don’t remember anything. I have never been to St Andrews but I have been to Molineux, shame we lost 5-1! I think Birmingham are a good side and have clearly gone for experience to get them out of this division. From what I have seen and heard, Birmingham don’t play attractive passing football but get the results…sometimes.

What do you think the score will be?
I think Birmingham will snatch it, 2-1 to Birmingham. We are capable of scoring but our defenders struggle with any balls into the box. I think Phillips will score a later winner for you.
